What the petition asks

We want the Prime Minister to invite the England Football Team to dinner at No 10.

The PM should also invite the Home Secretary as I’m sure the squad would like to meet her too!
This would be a great form of recognition for the tremendous effort and spirit the team has shown and indeed achieved by getting to the finals of a major tournament in over half a century.

Why it was rejected

It was about honours or appointments, which petitions cannot cover.

Gareth Southgate and all of the members of the England team did the country proud, but we can't accept petitions calling for the Government to honour or congratulate individual sport teams.
