Increase funding for Herpes (HSV) education, testing and research
Closed

What the petition asks
Extra funding should be provided to help educate healthcare professionals on ‘best practice’ HSV testing and advice, and to provide additional testing capability for HSV. It should also support and incentivise research into new treatments and cures, including support to fast-track promising trials.
Despite medical advances there is still no cure for this disease. Beyond physical symptoms other impacts of HSV include: mental health implications; around 30% of new HIV infections are due to HSV infection; it is a leading cause of blindness from infection; and some research has found a link between HSV infection and Alzheimer’s disease, to name but a few.
