Create funding for people on benefits with a driving license for HGV shortage

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Rather than put the "HGV shortage" on the list for people from other countries to drive here, create the 100 thousand jobs from people on benefits who need to work in this country, also scrap the class 2 test and have the class 1 only to reduce the cost for people who want to get the HGV license
Currently the statistics are saying there is a shortage of 100k HGV drivers, yet it's a nightmare to book a test due to the thousands of people waiting to get them.
If there is a shortage of drivers, then scrap the class 2 rigid license and have the class 1 articulated only to reduce costs for people coming into the industry and having to pay over £3000 to get all licences.
There is enough people looking for work who can't afford to get the license, so put funding forward to help the economy.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about the shortage of HGV drivers, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

We can't accept petitions calling for people on benefits to be required to take up certain occupations. If you want the Government to provide grants for people to qualify as HGV drivers, we could accept a petition requesting that, but it would need to be clear that's what you want to happen.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
