Public services disallow *parental conflict* if domestic abuse has/is present

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

Ban public services from allowing the term *parental conflict* where domestuc abuse has/is present.

Too often parents are forced to co-parent with an abuser and can be excused as parental conflict!

It is impossible to co-parent with an abuser as they counter parent, we need to parallel parent
We live in a society that encourages us to leave abusers yet even with post separation now being a crime sadly is not recognised in public services who then expect effective co-parenting.

Mamy studies show how impossible this is.

Our services therefore enable the abuse to continue which has detrimental impacts on all.

Where abuse is or has been present in any form this needs to be recognised and the term parental conflict banned from these cases.

Parallel parenting is much safer for all.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

The Government already identifies parental conflict and domestic abuse as two different things. You can read more here:

The Government isn't responsible for how the term is used in the wider legal and family support spheres
