Petition · past parliament
Change protocol to allow an MP to call another a liar in the House if it is true
Rejected
19 signatures
What the petition asks
Require the Speaker to desist from taking punitive action against an MP who accuses another of being a liar unless clearly done as mere abuse
The convention of using only euphemisms, terminological inexactitude etc, when reasonably describing another MP a liar, brings Parliament into disrepute/makes it into a laughing stock
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
