What the petition asks
Update the Oaths Act 1978 to force all Members of Parliament to speak in the House of Commons under oath, subject to the Perjury Act 1911, to ensure Members of Parliament speak truthfully when in parliament.
MPs lie and get away with it far too often, they need to be held accountable in law.

Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We understand you're concerned about what is said by MPs in the House of Commons, however MPs already swear in according to the Oaths Act so it's not clear exactly what you want to change.
