What the petition asks

Politicians are expected to represent their constituents in the House of Parliament and are required in their work capacity to visit care homes. Therefore for them to enter care homes they will need to be fully vaccinated in the same way any other person working in that environment has been mandated

The Members of Parliament are as likely to contract and contaminate others with a virus as any other citizen in the U.K. They are mandating compulsory vaccination for certain employment categories in certain sectors in the name of protecting the vulnerable. MPs are also expected to go into these environments to ensure residents are safe and correctly looked after. Therefore, all MPs should be following the very rules they voted by majority for.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand you're concerned about the vaccination status of people entering care homes, however we can't accept petitions calling for mandatory medical treatment.

You could have a petition calling for a legal requirement that anyone who wishes to visit a care home, including MPs, must to be vaccinated, if that is something you'd like to see happen.
