BEXLEY COUNCIL TO REFUND RESIDENTS COUNCIL TAX FOR THE MONTHS OF JULY & AUGUST

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

REQUEST BEXLEY COUNCIL TO REFUND RESIDENTS COUNCIL TAX FOR THE MONTHS OF JULY & AUGUST FOR FAILING TO DEAL WITH SERCO AND THE REFUSE STRIKE, RESULTING IN THE NON COLLECTION OF WASTE FOR TWO WHOLE MONTHS.

IT IS UNACCEPTABLE ESPECIALLY DURING A PANDEMIC WITH MANY BINS OVERFLOWING WITH RUBBISH.
BEXLEY COUNCIL HAVE REFUSED TO STEP IN AS THEY HIDE BEHIND AN OLD BYLAW.

THEIR INABILITY TO RESOLVE AN ISSUE WITH THE CONTRACTOR THAT THEY APPOINTED AND PROVIDE A BASIC SERVICE AS PROMISED IN THEIR COUNCIL MANIFESTO NOW NEEDS TO BE ESCALATED TO THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT AND OVERRULED.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Local matters are for individual local authorities, not the Government or House of Commons. As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.

If you are concerned about issues in your area you could raise this issue with a local councillor, who represents you. You can use this page to find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them: https://www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors
