British government to open borders to Afghan refugees
Rejected
16 signatures
What the petition asks
Open British borders to afghan refugees seeking asylum in the U.K. from the Taliban.
British involvement in Afghanistan arguably is a reason for the current instability in the region. Thus we must take responsibility by opening our borders to those who need refugee as a result of the U.K.’s actions there.
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
The Home Office announced on 18 August 2021 a bespoke resettlement route for Afghan refugees who have been forced to flee the country. You can read more about it on the gov.uk website: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/bespoke-resettlement-route-for-afghan-refugees-announced
