Support refugees from Afghanistan
Rejected

What the petition asks
Support refugees from Afghanistan who are fleeing the Taliban and welcome them to the UK.
The UK has been instrumental in the current refugee crisis in Afghanistan and we have a moral duty to support them. We have destabilised the country for years and decided to abandon the Afghan population, leaving them to a Taliban insurgency. We have a responsibility to offer refuge.
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
The Home Office announced on 18 August 2021 a bespoke resettlement route for Afghan refugees who have been forced to flee the country. You can read more about it on the gov.uk website: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/bespoke-resettlement-route-for-afghan-refugees-announced
