What the petition asks
The Government should introduce new legal requirements for licences and training for all pet owners and breeders, and microchipping for all pets. This would help ensure the safety of people and animals, and create new job opportunities in the animal welfare sector.
Anyone who owns or breeds pets of any kind should be required to get a licence, with mandatory pet care classes, and breeding classes for breeders, to provide owners/breeders with the knowledge to care for their pet & act appropriately in all situations as well as ensuring the well-being of the animals.
To ensure the safety of people (especially infants) and also ensure the safety, health & welfare of the animals & the environment too.
