Opt-out of the UN/ECE Regulation 79

What the petition asks
UN/ECE 79 which places major limitations on vehicle technologies that have in some cases been shown to be safer than human driving.
By allowing vehicle manufacturers to create safer and more reliable technology, the UK will be a more attractive market for major car companies and their new technologies.
The UK could be one of the leading countries in automotive autonomous driving. The UN/ECE Reg. 79 is hindering the future of self-driving cars.
We believe that autonomous vehicles will be the future. All this regulation does is delay the inevitable. The UK could be at the forefront of autonomous car development. If the UK is the leader, manufacturers will have more interest in business here.
