Scrap RIS2 (Road Investment Strategy 2)

Closed 1,874 signatures

What the petition asks

In the middle of a climate emergency, we shouldn't be building and upgrading 4,000 miles of new roads. Roads produce very high amounts of carbon emissions. We need to invest less in more polluting roads and more in other greener modes of transport like rail.
Even with electric vehicles, roads still cause high emissions and damage the environment both to build and while they're in use. E.g. tyre particulates have been found to damage the environment. The use of electric vehicles shouldn't be used as an argument to carry on building roads in this fashion.
