Raise wages for Care Home Staff

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Increase the wages of those working in healthcare and not just recognise the NHS
After working in care for almost 8 years it is apparent to me that staff feel unappreciated for the work they do due to such little pay and not enough recognition. For example staff who stack shelves in a supermarket get paid more than us individuals who work in Health care, our job is physically and emotionally challenging.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

The Government sets national minimum wages for workers of different ages, but isn't responsible for setting the salaries for privately employed individuals, including care home workers.

As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
