Require a minimum size for hutches and cages for animals

Closed 3,655 signatures

What the petition asks

Ban the sale of inadequately sized hutches and cages for small animals and set minimum sizes.
The purpose of this petition is to ban the sale of TINY, INADEQUATELY sized cages, hutches and enclosures and in turn I believe that new small animal owners will be better educated when it comes to buying a small animal. Please enforce minimum standards.

This will reduce the amount of small animals in rescue centres. If people were well educated on the minimum space requirements and enrichment needs of the small animals they could make better informed decisions on whether the animal is right for them.

I believe that if high street and online pet stores were not allowed to sell such small “homes”, the quality of life for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small animals would increase dramatically.
