Make the media and individuals responsible for disruption by sensationalisation

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

As the recent problems around petrol forecourts have shown how the media or individuals present news and information can have real world consequences and impact for everyday people. The over sensationalisation of information using inflammatory language to ‘sell a story’ is not a harmless activity.
Legislate to make those involved in such activity responsible for their words: ‘incitement that causes severe public disruption’

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the content of media reporting.
