Launch an inquiry into media reporting of recent 'fuel shortages'

Closed 34 signatures

What the petition asks

We believe the British media has acted irresponsibly in its reporting of recent 'fuel shortages'. What started out as a handful of garages having to close because of late deliveries quickly turned in to countrywide panic, due at least in part to alarmist reporting of the situation.
Media companies need to be held to account for how they report. It needs to be done in an accurate and responsible way and there need to be mechanisms and policies in place to ensure standards are met and situations like the one that occurred over the last week cannot happen - or if they do - that media outlets that have behaved irresponsibly can be held to account.
