Create a Victims Law to enhance rights for victims of crime

What the petition asks
Victims of crime have waited years for a Victims Law to enhance their rights but are no further forward
We must shift the balance of power to enhance victims’ rights.
The Victims Commissioner has published proposals for a Victims Law. Please make this happen.
A victims voice needs to be heard but being heard is not enough. Victims are often bystanders through criminal justice processes when they need to be active participants.
A Victims Law should set out legal rights for:
- Support for recovery for victims of crime
- Access to free copies of court transcripts
- Speaking in court
- Paid legal advice
- And many other points to consider.
