Ban the Slaughter of Animals for Meat As Soon As Possible

What the petition asks
1.2 billion land animals are brutally killed for their meat each year in the UK, according to vegan group Viva! These animals are exploited, abused and killed unjustly, just because people like meat. This has to stop as soon as possible.
A complete ban on the slaughter of animals for meat may not be considered feasible by the Government right now, but I ask the Government to phase out and ban all animal killing for meat as soon as possible. To support this the Government should:
- Offer financial incentives and support to farmers to encourage them to plant-based farming.
- Fund animal sanctuaries and vegan groups.
- Ban the killing of animals (including fish) for meat as soon as possible.”
