What the petition asks
"Boris Johnson has ruled out prosecuting misogyny as a hate crime, arguing it would overload the justice system and make the fight against rape and domestic violence harder. The prime minister called violence against women “the number one issue in policing." He blames the police and not misogyny.
Boris claims to care about women, to want violence towards them to end.He says that violence against women is a priority but he won't change a law to help them.
The police have been underfunded for years any strain they are under is not due to new to laws.
How would making misogyny a hate crime make it harder in the fight against rape and domestic violence? It would help, it gives another avenue for prosecution and one that isn't rape or DV because misogyny is much more than those two things.
