What the petition asks
I was driving when I saw an injured and distressed cat lying in the middle of the road. I tried to help, there wasn't a service or anyone I could call. She was then ran over by another car killing her. It was distressing and no living thing should have their life ended like that.
Injured animals in the road can cause injury to other drivers. It's also distressing for those who witness the accident and the dead body afterwards. If a domesticated animal this can affect the owners as animals are seen as part of the family.
Something needs to be done, a free service or a number that we can call 24/7 to help collect and hopefully treat the animal.
We tried to call 101 and each time was directed to a website, this service needs to be improved.
