Petition · past parliament

Have the BBC iPlayer available overseas as a paid tv subscription service.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

To allow for Brits abroad and anyone else who wants to watch BBC content via iPlayer rather than prohibiting it.
I'm a British citizen living in Australia and would love to have access to the BBC. Presently it's only available on YouTube or other non official streaming services.

This then means that the BBC and the UK in general are missing out on a huge amount of revenue which could be used to alleviate the tv licence fee.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions about the availability of BBC iPlayer in other countries are a matter for the BBC, not the UK Government or Parliament.

As a result it is not possible for the Government or Parliament to take the action you have requested.
