Petition · past parliament

Explore criminal proceedings against the Government relating to covid deaths.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

I want Parliament to acknowledge that many deaths could have been avoided and ask the Director of Public Prosecutions to explore the option of criminal proceedings. To date over 150,000 deaths have been attributed to Covid and many could have been avoided if the Prime Minister took prompt action.
Whilst a Public Inquiry has been announced the timescale and it’s powers remain unknown. Therefore an urgent review of the criminal liability is needed by the Director of Public Prosecutions

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions about investigating alleged offences and prosecuting these are a matter for the police and Crown Prosecution Service, not the Government or House of Commons.
