Extend the rules of conduct for MPs to cover exchanges on social media
Closed

What the petition asks
Currently the Parliamentary Commissioner cannot investigate complaints regarding MP's exchanges on social media because these are not covered by the rules of conduct. The remit needs to be revised to include exchanges on social media.
We believe some MPs are using their social media accounts in an unprofessional manner, whether that be spreading dangerous misinformation, or having unacceptable exchanges with constituents and blocking them. We believe all exchanges by MPs on social media urgently need to be subject to scrutiny by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards.
