Pay FE college teaching staff the same as school staff
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
To raise FE colleges teachers pay to be in line with school teachers pay.
Teachers in FE have the same qualifications as school staff with worse pay and conditions. Teachers in FE teach A levels or Btec qualifications for 24-25hrs a week compared to 21-22 in schools, receive less pay with no cost of living pay rises per year and generally have less holidays (35 days plus bank holidays rather than 13 weeks) plus more evenings. This does not seem to be in line the Equal Pay Act.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament is responsible for.
Decisions about pay for further education colleges are a matter for individual further education colleges and the Association of Colleges, not the Government or Parliament.
As a result it is not possible for the Government or Parliament to take the action you have requested.
