What the petition asks
Make reasonable adjustments within the education system to cater for and support children with high functioning autism. To create access to more schools that cater for children with dual or multiple exceptionalities (DMEs) access learning and reach their full potential.
To include more detailed and thorough units on autism during teacher training. To enforce that state schools include quiet areas for children who have sensory issues. To ensure that all schools have dedicated SENcos, with knowledge and experience of high functioning autism. To create access to schools dedicated to DME/high functioning children. There are little to no provisions currently for high functioning autistic children. Many drop out of school/are removed due to lack of provision.
