Require all ships in UK ports to be inspected for compliance with MLC 2006

What the petition asks
Exploitation of seafarers is an issue worldwide, and Britain must take action to protect seafarers. We would like stricter enforcement, to requiring all ships in UK ports to be inspected for compliance with Maritime Labour Convention 2006 regulations - of which the UK is a key signatory.
The UK, as a leading maritime nation, needs to set the greatest example. We need to use our unique position to ensure basic rights of seafarers.
Seafarers, especially British and Europeans, are leaving in their droves. There is already a shortage of personnel, let's protect them so they can deliver for us.
No shipping means no shopping.
