Introduce new requirements for dog ownership
Closed
85 signatures
What the petition asks
Require people undergo psychological and medical assessments and a full criminal records check in order to own a dog.
Dog owners must also take out public liability insurance of £250,000 (minimum) per dog and hold a license for each dog. Dogs must wear collars, be micro-chipped and be on leads in some public areas.
We believe too many dog owners do not act responsibly and and are not being held accountable for their actions. Children, adults and other animals are being seriously harmed some have even lost their lives. This is avoidable with stronger laws and owner accountability.
