Review powers for tackling obstructive protesters and their organisers

What the petition asks
The Government should review existing powers available to them, the police and prosecutors to tackle obstructive protests and their organisers.
Protestors and organisers should face severe criminal charges for protesting or inciting protests that collectively obstruct the freedom of the public.
We believe recent protests, and the obstruction of our highways, have caused an inhumane degree of chaos, depriving us of the essential transport that our lives run on.
Claiming to exercise their right to democracy, we believe the behaviour of some participants’ is unacceptable. Police and prosecutors should have powers to take swift and effective action against the dangers they pose to the public.
These include:
- Obstructing highways
- Obstructing emergency workers
- Criminal damage
