No New Nuclear

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Nuclear power is not the solution.
It contributes to warming and
creates waste like nothing else.

Be it small modular reactors (SMR), or large plants, it is not the answer.

Nuclear, like fossil fuels, funds mining that harms indigenous folks outside the UK. Out of sight out of mind, right?
Nuclear plants (inc SMRs), are unsuitable in our changing climate. They’re ineffective/forced to close during heatwaves.

Plants will face ever frequent flooding. Imagine nuclear waste entering our seas as a result. The public and planet lose out.

Investing heavily in nuclear deflects from (cleaner/greener) renewables.

We urge the Government to rethink the introduction of new nuclear, and to include a ‘No New Nuclear’ clause in all climate planning.

No new nuclear. Fund ✨sustainable✨ power.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about new nuclear plants, but we're not sure if you want the Government to ban new nuclear plants, or just not provide funding for new nuclear power generation.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
