Refund 30% of Tuition fees for 2020/2021 academic year

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The government must demand universities and institutions to refund 30% of whatever a student paid during the 2020/2021 academic year due to our lost experiences.
It is unreasonable for an institution to demand the same price for a completely different product regardless of the circumstances. Students' mental health has also declined and Universities have offered little to no support and instead offered low-quality online education that benefitted few to none.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament is responsible for.

Decisions about refunding students are a matter for individual universities, not the Government or Parliament. As a result it is not possible for the Government or Parliament to take the action you have requested.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to directly reimburse students for a proportion of their tuition fees, or reduce student loan debts, if that's something you'd like to happen.
