What the petition asks

Enforce food producers to add eco ratings and ecological impact data to food packaging. In the same format as the current traffic light system for nutritional facts, to enable people to make a more informed choice regarding the impact the food they eat has on the environment.

The world is facing an uncertain future and projections for climate change give us an insight into what the world will look like for our children and our children's children. We need to make changes to the way we live and the food we eat to make more eco friendly choices. Adding an eco traffic light system to packaging, in the same way we do for nutritional facts, to highlight the carbon footprint, will help the general public make an informed decision.
