Create a binding contract for MPs

Closed 48 signatures

What the petition asks

A binding contract for sitting MPs should be introduced, that clearly sets out the terms and conditions under which they work, including:
Hours to be worked
Rules on second jobs
Time to be spent in MP surgery
Time to be spent in Parliament
Holiday entitlement

Due to the apparent disregard by some MPs of the Code of Conduct for MPs, to the detriment of the tax payer, a more contractual agreement should be put in place which sets clear rules for the terms under which MPs serve, to ensure they meet the needs of their constituents and the country as a whole. MPs failing to meet the terms of the contract would face removal.

We believe existing measures are not adequate to prevent corruption and sleaze, and protect the interests of constituents.
