Abolish detention outside school sessions

What the petition asks
I want the Government to ban detention outside school sessions, as currently permitted under the Education Act 2006 - section 92.
The Education Act does not require sufficient impact assessment to support the purpose and worthiness of such penalty. It can create a strain on teachers, administrative staff, pupils, parents and carers, and is often a negative experience for everyone involved. There is inconsistent practice among schools in giving suitable tasks to pupils or not engaging them with homework during the detention. There is insufficient evidence that detention outside school sessions improves the behaviour of pupils or academic performance.
