Make a stronger climate deal by the end of COP 27, Egypt

Rejected 9 signatures

What the petition asks

The task of the COP 26 climate change conference in Glasgow is not complete. In the face of a climate change emergency the deal was a small step, when we urgently need to take a giant leap forward. We must plan, negotiate, and agree on a much stronger global climate deal by the end of COP 27, Egypt.
In COP26 we agreed emissions cuts that, if fully adhered to, will limit global warming to around 2.4C, nowhere near the 1.5C target agreed by scientists and politicians. Please take a moment to watch Alok Sharma, the president of the COP26 summit, summarize what was achieved at the conference: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-59277788

We must set serious targets for the next decade, not far in the future. And we must eradicate coal as a power source, not merely "phase it down".

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you want to see a stronger climate deal, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government to do, or try to secure in a future deal.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
