Regulate the hair, beauty, holistic and aesthetic industries

What the petition asks
I would like the Government to introduce a regulatory standard for each hair, beauty, holistic and aesthetic industry and require relevant qualifications and insurance in order to practice in these industries, to ensure the general public's health and safety.
Many of the treatments offered in these industries involve chemicals or needles and if done incorrectly, can potentially cause life-changing injuries.
As a veteran in the hair and beauty industry, I have extensive knowledge of procedures, treatments and products and am horrified by images I see of treatments that have gone wrong, and the lack of training of many practitioners. Regulatory standards and requirements for training are needed to protect the public.
