A legal requirement for every property that houses children to have smoke alarms
Rejected

What the petition asks
To make it a legal requirement for every house that children reside in to have a smoke/fire alarm. These checks can be done either by initial visits carried out by care workers after birth of baby, or thr same checks that are carried out for TV licence requirements
To protect children but also prevent the life of anyone being taken by house fires. Too many children die every year due to no smoke/fire detector being fitted. If this is passed, this campaign can potentially save over 200 lives that are caused by house fires in the UK each year.
