Provide a safe and warm shelter for homeless people during the cold weather

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

I’d like the government to provide shelter in the form of town centres or to those who are sleeping in the streets during this cold weather and possibly some duvets and thick clothes.
There are over 30 people sleeping in the streets in just Nottingham alone, last year we lost a homeless man due to the weather. Therefore, Providing a safe and warm shelter during the cold weather will help those in need to stay warm and cosy as soon as possible.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We understand that you are concerned about the provisions available for homeless people, but providing safe places to stay in towns and cities would be the responsibility of local councils, and not of the Government or Parliament.

We currently have the below petition open which you might like to sign, which is about increasing funding for such provisions:
Fund increased housing provision for homeless people
Fund increased housing provision for homeless people

In any case, if you would like to start a new petition you would need to give both your first name and surname.
