Stop travel bans to encourage discolsure of new Coronavirus variants

What the petition asks
If HMG bans travel to countries that discover new variants of Coronavirus it does not encourage, countries to disclose the discovery of a new variant. For instance countries like South Africa rely on UK tourism what incentive do they have in the future to discover new variants if the result is a ban
We can only beat this virus if we work together. Countries should not be punished for responsible disclosure. The more onerous the Government makes the rules for instance travel bans and hotel quarantine the more incentive there is for people and countries to avoid those rules.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We understand you're concerned about international travel restrictions imposed by the UK Government, however it's not clear what you want the Government to do differently. Any decision on whether to disclose information on a covid-19 variant discovered in a particular country is a matter for that country, not the UK Government or Parliament.
You could have a petition calling on the Government to exempt countries which discover new covid-19 variants from the red list, if that is something you'd like to see happen.
