To get more organisations using makaton to allow makaton users to communicate

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

To make makaton compulsory within the following places:

Restaurant/cafes
Youth group
Sport organisations
Shops
Schools

One supermarket has got a makaton board that enables makaton users to help their parents and carers complete the shopping stress free.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about what forms of speech to use in certain places, such as shops and restaurants, are a matter for their proprietors, not the Government or Parliament. We could accept a petition calling on the Government to require all educational staff to be trained in Makaton, if that's something you would like to happen.

As a result it is not possible for the Government or Parliament to take the action you have requested.
