Legalise and license sale of pepper spray

What the petition asks
The Government should:
- create a licensing scheme for the sale of pepper spray to those with ID only; and
- require pepper spray products to have a serial number which is logged with the ID of the purchaser on a database
- create a licensing scheme for the sale of pepper spray to those with ID only; and
- require pepper spray products to have a serial number which is logged with the ID of the purchaser on a database
This should help protect women and men, ultimately reducing the risk of assault. Pepper spray is a widely recognised non-lethal deterrent that can be used for self-defence. Firearms can be purchased and registered to a person so a non-lethal deterrent could easily have the same system.
