Prosecute dog owners whose dogs attack other dogs

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Please legislate against dogs which attack other animals and not only if they attack people. A dangerous dog needs to be removed from society and the owner held accountable.
I have been attacked twice by dogs. Today my little dog was almost killed by a dog which had been left tied outside a shop. The attack was completely unprovoked and I have been left with a traumatised dog, large vet bill and the knowledge that absolutely nothing will be done to trace or make the owner accountable. This dog will attack another dog and I have no doubt a possible attack on a person or even worse a child.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions on whether to prosecute someone for an alleged offence are matters for the police and the Crown Prosecution Service, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You might like to sign this petition which calls for a very similar action:

'Make it a specific criminal offence for a dog to attack another dog': Make it a specific criminal offence for a dog to attack another dog
