Support the TRIPS waiver at the WTO

What the petition asks
The UK must align itself with Commonwealth countries India and South Africa and develop negotiating text temporarily suspending IP rights at the WTO. A TRIPS waiver can help increase production of Covid-19 vaccines, diagnostics and treatments by suspending monopolies on technology and know-how.
A TRIPS waiver is an important part of an effective global public health response. The longer we take to achieve global vaccination thresholds, the greater the risk of new variants like Omicron emerging, the greater the loss of life and cumulative damage to societies and economies worldwide. The blocking of a TRIPS waiver at the WTO on the part of the UK (a position shared by the EU) is not responsible or sustainable from a moral, diplomatic, public health or human rights perspective.
