Raise teacher Salaries matching other graduate positions! Starting pay over 35k

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

Teachers are VERY underpaid compared to all other graduates in the UK.Teacher wages need to reflect the hardwork that is undertaken. A Pay freeze on the public sector is not understandable when MPS/Lords are expecting a pay increase in spring. Yet again failing teachers! When will this happen 2024?
Teacher pay does not reflect the hard work that is input by staff. Its sad to see such hard work input and little reward in pay compared to other graduate working sectors!

Staff have to choose whether to join a union, not have a pension or to make ends meet which is a sad position to be in when working hard and graduating to have a good job in life. We Inspiring the generation of tomorrow! Reality of life graduating and having a career is it worth it, maybe not in teaching!

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about teacher pay, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Your petition refers to increasing pay to match other graduate positions, but pay for graduates varies significantly, and it's not clear if you just want the Government to fund an increase in the starting salary for teachers to £35,000, or also make other changes to teacher pay.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
