Impose a 4-week lockdown to combat Omicron

What the petition asks
Impose a 4-week lockdown to prevent the NHS being overwhelmed while the severity of Omicron can be properly assessed.
It appears that Omicron may be more transmissible then previous strains. If it results in severe illness in a similar way to previous strains the NHS could be overwhelmed. Many hospitals are already at 94% of total capacity.
To prevent a situation where the NHS cannot effectively treat people a short lockdown should be imposed so that the data regarding Omicron can be assessed. Doing this now it should have the smallest amount of impact on schools and businesses due to the time of the year. Delay could result in a longer more costly lockdown.
