Petition · past parliament

Remove congestion charge & parking fees for all NHS staff commuting to work.

Rejected 9 signatures

What the petition asks

Until Covid is in the past, the government should allow all NHS staff to drive to work without the need for public transport. All NHS staff should have free parking and should be exempt from congestion charge. This will ensure our front line workers can travel to work safely and keep protecting us.
Introduce an NHS travel pass for NHS staff to drive to work without congestion charges or parking fees. Those eligible should be able to register their vehicle to avoid getting charged. This will ensure that they can travel safely, avoid contracting the virus and thus continue the amazing work they do saving lives.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about parking charges and congestion charges are a matter for relevant local authorities and car park operators, not the Government or Parliament. As a result it is not possible for the Government or Parliament to take the action you have requested.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to provide funding to pay parking and congestion charge costs for NHS staff during the pandemic, if that's something you would like to happen.
