Make it illegal to discriminate against someone based on their expressed opinion

Closed 58 signatures

What the petition asks

Bodies or individuals committing such discrimination should be liable for criminal prosecution. The wronged person should have legal rights to compensation for mental suffering and financial loss.

The only exemption would be if the person had been convicted for illegally expressing their opinion.
If the petition’s proposals became law then people would be protected from discrimination based on their expressed opinions.

This would mean that employers and businesses could not choose to discriminate, or be pressured into discriminating, against people on the basis of their expressed opinions.

It should also allow greater freedom to debate important issues.
