Stop schools using poor-support plastic chairs and low desks which damage health

Rejected 15 signatures

What the petition asks

Students should not have to sit on small, ill-fitting, uncomfortable chairs which damage spine health and reduce attentiveness during lessons

a better posture means that students should not experience back pain.

increased blood flow increases Cognitive Performance and prevents cramps.
The government should help schools help students by making sure all schools have chairs and desks which promote good posture and blood flow in order to allow students to lead and healthy active life and ensure a better and more effective learning experience.

Backcare Awareness recently announced that 1 in 4 secondary school students in the UK suffers daily back pain it seems these chairs have a lot to answer for.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions around furniture in schools are for schools to decide individually. You might start a petition asking for the Government to fund provision of more ergonomic furniture in schools.
