Introduce Witness Personal Statements in line with Victim Personal Statements

What the petition asks

I am encouraged that progress has been made in giving Victims a voice in relation to how an offence has affected them & in turn the impact on sentencing. Witnesses are not afforded the same considerations, and I want all witnesses to be able to give a personal statement.

Victim Personal Statements enable Victims to explain how they have been effected by an offence, incorporating the physical, financial & emotional.

I want witnesses to be given a right to make their own personal statements, to give them a greater voice in the criminal justice process.
