Petition · past parliament
Ban party whips.
Rejected
11 signatures
What the petition asks
MPs should be allowed to vote according to their own free will and not be forced to tow party lines.
It is undemocratic and acts for the greater good of the party in power, not the country as a whole.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions about whipping are the responsibility of the political parties, and decisions about how to vote in the House of Commons are the responsibility of individual MPs, not the UK Government or Parliament as a whole.
